Newood technology

The shell as
a building principle.

From composite material to assembled elements: understand the logic behind the Newood system.

Newood standard composite block
OSB / Expanded polystyrene / OSB
01 / The material

The sandwich principle.

Two OSB panel faces surround an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core. Structural bonding joins these components to form a composite material.

The standard block measures 2.50 m long, 0.40 m high and 0.40 m wide. Other geometries allow curved and double-curved forms to be explored.

02 / Assembly

An assembled envelope.

Prefabricated elements are bonded together. Additional OSB panels on the inside and outside complete the shell’s laminated reinforcement.

The system also provides space for services and fittings within the thickness of its elements.

A few answers.

Is Newood a timber frame system?

The principle presented is a bonded composite shell reinforced with panels. It differs from a frame made of studs and beams.

Can curved forms be designed?

The elements presented include rounded forms and special pieces. Feasibility and assembly details need to be studied for the project geometry.

Are all gallery projects built?

No. The gallery distinguishes architectural concepts from photographic archives. A concept rendering is not evidence of construction or certification.
